If you're like many people today, you've heard about Jesus. You may think of Him as a religious leader or perhaps as a really good man who lived 2,000 years ago. But have you ever wondered if He could possibly make a difference in your life today?

You and I, all of us, are sinners and are in need of a life-changing experience with Jesus. Some 2,000 years ago Christ (Christ is another name for Jesus) came to earth and in spite of the fact, or perhaps because of the fact, He lived a life in perfect relationship with God, He was falsely accused and executed by the religious and governmental authorities of the day.

Although that sounds terrible at first, His death is really, really Good News! Actually, Jesus' death is recorded in four books in the Bible: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, we call them the Gospels. The word "gospel" literally translates to Good News! His death was the only death that could pay the penalty for our inability to keep God's Law. Even greater, the Good News doesn't end there, Jesus did not remain dead. He was miraculously restored to new life three days after His death.

The best news of all is, if you believe in Jesus today, His death, burial, and resurrection, you accept Him as Savior of your life, then not only will He make a difference in you today, but when life on earth is over, you will continue to live forever with Him in Heaven.

The Recipe to Eternity

First, you must acknowledge that you are a sinner and have broken the Laws of God, and then you must repent of your sins. "What does repent mean?" you ask. It means to make a spiritual U-turn. It means you turn from your sins and you turn from God. It does not mean, however, that you will not sin again, but it does mean you are tired of it and don't want to sin.

Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

Second, you must believe Jesus died for your sins, that He paid the price for your sins, and that Jesus rose from the dead to give you eternal life.

Romans 10:9, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

Lastly, you just simply have to receive Jesus into your life to be your Lord and Savior. The very moment you do this, He will come into your life and make you a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new."

Are You Ready To Receive Jesus?

If you are ready to put your faith and trust in the Lord, Jesus Christ, then you can pray right now, right where you are. You simply follow the biblical steps we shared with you above. Pray how you wish, share your heart with God. You can pray a prayer like this:

"Lord  Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life in heaven with You. Take control of my life and make me the kind of person You want me to be. Amen."

If you sincerely repented of your sins and placed your faith in Jesus Christ to save you, then the Bible says you are now a Christian. Old things are now gone, new things have now come, and the Spirit of God now dwells in your life. The Bible also says now that you have given your life to Christ, that there is rejoicing in the presence of angels in Heaven over your decision and we here at Dry Valley are rejoicing as well!

Now What?

Tell Someone! Call anyone, right now: your parents, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, friend, co-worker, or neighbor. Tell someone who you know will celebrate the fact that you just surrendered your life to Jesus. We also want you to let us know by using the contact form on our website.

Find a church. This is important, especially if you do not know someone who will celebrate your decision to follow Christ. Christians in a church will walk with you as you explore this new life in Christ. If you would like a list of churches near your home, again contact us on our website and we will be glad to send you a list.

Get baptized. Baptism is a public act of identifying yourself as a Christian.

Begin reading the Bible. Start setting aside time each day to read the Bible. Pray before you start and expect God to teach you through His Word. Just as food satisfies your body, the Bible will be what will satisfy your soul on a daily basis.

Don't try to read the Bible through from beginning to end. Try reading from the New Testament, to begin with. You will find it in the last third of your Bible. It begins with the Book of Matthew followed by the books Mark, Luke, and John. These books tell the life story of Jesus from different viewpoints.

Pray. Prayer is talking with God. He loves you and wants you to know Him better. Some have said prayer seems awkward at first but just as with any relationship, talking with God takes time to feel natural. Use that time to tell God about your day, tell Him about your troubles. or ask Him your questions. Use it to ask Him for direction or just tell Him how much you appreciate what He has done for you already. Having a daily prayer time built into your daily routine will help grow you as a Christian.
